Day Two of our Port Douglas trip was a little overcast and a tad dissappointing. The forecasts hadn't been good but the locals pointed out the forecasts are for Cairns which is on the other side of a mountain range and tends to get a lot more rain than Port Douglas.
They must of known what they were talking about because in spite of the wet forecasts, we saw very little rain.
The Markets were the first thing on the Agenda on Sunday morning. I can't say I'm a fan of markets as a rule - and the market at Port Douglas didn't change my opinion of them! It was pretty much a collection of crap and commercialism that no-one with any sense would waste their money on.
There was one bright spot. There was a photographer with a stall at the far end of the market. Gareth Kelly was his name (http://www.garethkelly.com/) and he had some really nice pictures. What really stood out though were some of his frames. I don't know if he made them himself but some of them were sensational. Pity we couldn't afford any of it! :)
Next we wandered down to Four Mile Beach which is at the far end of Macrossan St to where we were staying. This is where we should have stayed! Much quieter. Less bad singing, more birds and ocean!
Four Mile Beach is pretty. No surf but that is standard thanks to the reef. There was a guy with a four wheeler that cruised up and down the beach selling ice creams and stuff which I thought was pretty cool.
Bel did a little sunbathing which was optimistic in my opinion. The sun made a couple of special guest appearances but for the most part, it was just windy and overcast. In fact over the week we visited Four Mile Beach a few times and every time there was a strong off shore wind that spoilt the beach.
