I'm only half way through this one and I can already some it up in one word: Boring. How did this end up on the top 100? Mr Showbiz needs his head read.
Were it not for this 'challenge' I doubt I would have ever sat down to watch a 3 hour Gangster movie. It's just not my thing.
I was, however, really surprised by it. I liked it! Lots! When I called it quits half way through to go to bed on the first night, I spent the next day wondering how it would end.
Unlike my better half, I resisted the temptation to Wiki the entire plot, so I enjoyed the suspenseful elements of the movie. I thought the acting was good for the most part and the score was pleasant too (I did spend much of the first hour wondering if I'd missed the 'Godfather music' and was surprised when it randomly appeared in a scene with nothing really 'Godfather-ish' about it). The hats, however, were horrendous. I hope the costume designer did better on their next gig.
Overall, I thought it was interesting and entertaining, despite a slow start. Looking forward to the Godfather Part II.
